Dodgeball Tournament!

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Hey friends! As a welcome back to school, we are having a Team DODGEBALL (4 vs. 4) tournament at FUMC in the Christian Life Center. This is for all youth (and friends). It will be from 5-9pm on Friday Aug 26 and will be $2 per person. There will be food and drinks. Don’t have a Team?  Don’t worry! Teams may be formed at an event or feel free to dress as “teams.” So join us for some food, fellowship, and FUN!

Sincerely, Chad Rogers

Mid High Mission Camp

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

An ecumenical camp with First Presbyterian and Grace Episcopal churches. We gather at one of the churches (this year First UMC) for some games and a lesson based on the scriptures. After a snack we head out into the community to be in mission for a couple of hours. Each day the groups will participate in a different mission site. This year we will be preparing and serving lunch at the Salvation Army, leading activities at Golden Retirement Center, assisting with childcare at JC Day Care and doing yard cleanup at the Eastside Community Center. We then head out to Covenant Point Camp in Holts Summit for lunch and an afternoon of swimming and games.

8:00 – 5:00 p.m. Mon – Thursday. We spend the night at the camp on Thursday and return by noon on Friday. Grades 6 – 8. $55/camper.

Register Here.

Youth Retreat Cancelled (New Event!)

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Hey gang.  Due to scheduling conflicts, our guest teachers/leaders aren’t able to join us for our Spring Retreat.  Considering the nature of the retreat and the short notice, we’ve decided to cancel the retreat. We’re not going to do this thing half-way.  We may be a youth group, but we value quality in our events!

But since so many of you have scheduled the retreat into your calendars, we’re offering an alternative:

Day Trip to St Louis!

On Saturday, March 26, we’ll be traveling to St Louis.  We’re going to SkyZone (The giant trampoline room), and then to the St Louis Science Center!  We’ll be leaving at 9am, and arriving home by 7:00pm.  And it’s only $10!  (But bring money for lunch/snacks!)

Sign up quickly here.

Photo Updates!

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

We’ve just updated our photo galleries, so enjoy some of our events from the past!

[Spring Retreat] Love <3

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Note: Due to scheduling conflicts, the retreat has been canceled.  Instead, we will be visiting St. Louis for the day on Saturday, March 26!  More info here.

Our world is messy.  War, disease, corruption – and a lot of it.  Sometimes it’s hard to resist being caught up in our consumer-driven culture… (BUY BUY BUY!) and instead find beauty and love in the simple things.

But you’re not alone.

There’s a world full of artists and musicians who try to find truth behind all the advertisements, hunger, and pain.  And we’re going to spend a weekend with some of them looking at our world in a new way.  God is here, but sometimes you have to look in unexpected places.

Details:

Begins: Friday, March 25 @ 5pm

Ends: Sunday March 27 @ 2pm.

Cost: $50

Guest Speakers/Teachers/Musicians:

Solia Tera (Music) and Tara Campbell (Art)

“Solia Tera Is an American indie-experimental-pop band based in Lakeland Florida. It is the brainchild of songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Christoper Noyes, who began recording songs for the project in 2009. His songwriting is noted for the use of many unorthodox instruments (including scissors, kitchen utensils, paper ripping, and a speak and spell.) while still implementing several traditional voices i.e. guitar, piano, orchestral bells, and various brass and wind instruments. The EP “Diamonds, Dirt, Iron Pyrite, and a Pearl of great prize” was entirely self-produced in Noyes’ house and was released winter of 2010. The second EP “Grammatology” is to be released at the beginning of 2011.”
